About me
Siu Yee started weaving her musicality from a young age with organ as her first instrument. Later on, the 14-years old young teen expanded her interest into a brand new area - 24 festive drums, and found her calling on percussive music since then.
Siu Yee has been a full-time drummer for over two decades since she joined Hands Percussion, a Malaysia Renowned Percussion Group at the age of 18. Apart from the well trained Chinese percussive music background, she has been constantly strengthening her musical abilities through mentorship from local and international gurus which include Gamelan arranger Susan Sarah John, Marimba virtuoso Tan Su Yin, renowned music composer, and arranger Yuan Leow Yunn, award-winning musician Oliver Tarpaga and Balinese Gamelan master I Wayan Sudirana.
Taking her performance across the globe, Ng had been Invited to perform at Singapore, Taiwan, China, United States, Netherlands, Germany, Turkmenistan, Qatar etc. where she explores international collaborations. Her collaboration partners include Light Surgeon (England), SISU Percussion Ensemble (Norway), Yugananda (Bali) and Manifesto Poetico (France).
With her rich musical experience and expertise, Ng became the music director of Hands Percussion in 2015, composing and arranging repertoire for the group. In 2020, she decided to embark on a new journey in her music career as an independent percussionist and arranger.
